NeedleFish

The needlefish is a funny fish. Its gimmick was already taken by a different fish, the swordfish, and it did it better at that quite literally being a bigger, better version of the fish. So where does this leave the needlefish? Well, despite both having the obnoxiously long "sword", the fishes are both extremely unrelated, with the needlefish being more similar to the flying fish, both belonging to the beloniforme fish order. You can basically treat the needle fish like the Pikachu clones in Pokemon, while basically all unrelated, you can sorta tell that they're trying to be something they're not. Other than that, the needlefish resembles the ancient species of fish known as gars, with the fish originally being known as the garfish and being distantly related. The fish commonly inhabits the subtropics but some inhabit temperate waters with a genus known as Belone Belone being seen swimming with tuna. The fish reproduces with eggs, with the male fish usually riding the female fish with the waves in order to mate. In their juvenile stage, their long upper jaw isn't fully developed and their lower jaw ends up being bigger which is actually kinda funny to think about. During this stage, they mainly eat plankton and will switch to fish once the beak fully develops. Speaking of the beak, they usually end up being about 10-20% of the fish's full size and do infact have a set of pearly whites in there, so that's pretty cool. The fish, like others beloniforms can make teeny tiny jumps out of the water of about 37 mph. Because the fish usually swims near the surface, it will literally jump above boats as opposed to swimming around them, which would be cool if the fish didn't end up being an actual threat to humans. Fisherman commonly report being "attacked" by needlefish as the fish literally cannot sit still and will go to the big light in the sky. Along with this, there have been numerous reports of people being attacked or even killed by the fish jumping out of the water and attacking them being more dangerous than sharks which is, not that hard to do actually. As one last bit of trivia, the fish is known to follow Snell's Window. Snell's Window is a phenomenon where someone underwater will see everything above water through a cone of light, this is because of Snell's Law (Law of Refraction) and the cone ends up having a width of about 96 degrees. The fish uses this phenomenon to hide in the blind spots of the cone as anything outside of it will be dark which allows the fish to jump into that area and attack schools of fish. Overall, the needlefish takes multiple traits of other fish to create a pretty interesting fish, you could also use the fish as a very short spear, call that spear fishing.
